Hyosung started to research PTMG technology at Hyosung laboratory in 2000. Hyosung succeeded developing its own process of PTMG polymerization using HPA catalyst. In succession, Hyosung built a PTMG plant in China in 2008 year. Now, its capacity reached over 70,000ton per year. In 2016, in order to meet increasing demand and make high quality product, we built new PTMG plant in VietNam.
Hyosung PTMG technology is one of chemical technology developed and owned by Hyosung Corporation. And also it is main supplier to Hyosung spandex industry. So, Hyosung PTMG is related both Hyosung chemical industry and textile industry. Spandex is the largest end use for PTMG, accounting for more than 70% of global demand annually. (The generic term spandex is used in the United States while the term elastane is used in Europe.) This elastomeric fiber is used mainly in apparel, including undergarments, hosiery and athletic outfits, as well as in baby diapers, bandages, and home furnishings.
Major Products
Polytetramethylene ether glycol (PTMG)
Polytetramethylene ether glycol (PTMG) is hygroscopic polymer made up of liner diols with a backbone of repeating tetramethylene units which are connected by ether linkages, are produced by polymerizing tetrahydrofuran (THF). PTMG is a waxy, white solid that melts to a clear, colorless, viscous liquid near room temperature.
PTMEG is main soft segments of Thermoplastic polyurethane elastomers (TPE-U, TPU), thermoplastic polyester elastomers (TPE-E), Polyurethane fibers (Elastane), Spandex fiber, Polyurethane cast elastomers, thermoplastic polyamide elastomers (TPE-A), Polyurethane coatings, Polyurethane adhesives.
Our product molecular weight ranges from 1000 to 2000, typically uses for spandex fiber, solid elastomer and flexible materials.
